We are cautiously beginning to offer face-to-face opportunities for youth, and we couldn’t be more excited! Beginning November 2, we have two brand new project groups forming. One project group will be for beginning sewers and the other is called Pet Pals and will focus on learning about small animals. Plans for both are unfolding as I type this article! But the best news of all may be that we are offering these groups free of charge!
I would like to emphasize that the sewing group will be for beginning sewers grades 4-12. If you already have intermediate or advanced sewing skills, this group is not for you, but reach out if you would like! We are always looking to plug in volunteer leaders, both youth and adult!
The sewing group will hold their first session on November 2 in the Coffee County Administrative Plaza community room from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. This session will be used to introduce sewing terms and to become familiar with parts of a sewing machine. Youth will also learn how to thread a sewing machine.
Pet Pals will meet on the same date and in the same location but will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This group will be for youth in grades 4-6.
We are asking that youth register to participate in either or both of these groups. This will allow us to best prepare our room and supplies. Space will be limited as we will be social distancing and taking extra precautions to keep everyone safe and healthy. To register, call 723-5141.
