Valley Home Farm is a historic, 350 acre, five-generation farm in Wartrace, Tennessee and is currently owned by the Potts family, grandson Bobby and wife Janet. Bobby Potts began farming with his grandfather when he was 14 years old, when the farm consisted of traditional row plants and livestock. The Farm is home to several family-owned businesses, with a three-acre patch of Pick Your Own Strawberries and a seasonal farm store.

As of February 11th, 2020, Valley Home Farm has announced that after many successful seasons over twenty years, they have decided to retire from the strawberry business. Starting this spring, the VHF Berry Patches and Farm Store Bakery will no longer be open to visitors.

In 2019 they announced they were scaling back the “strawberry season operations” at Valley Home Farm. The have chosen after careful evaluation, to permanently step away from all of their spring activities.

The Potts family is still farming, however, but no longer raising spring and summer berries or produce. In a farewell post on Facebook the family states, ” The strawberries were not planted last fall, and the blueberry and blackberry plants have all been removed. The ground that once grew berries is now ready to produce hay and provide pasture for our growing flock of Katahdin and Dorper sheep. We are still raising chickens as well.”

Although the store and bakery are no longer in operation, the building will now serve as headquarters for 2 Sisters Catering, an all-occasion catering service operated by Linda Potts-Williams and Vickie Potts-Paydrum, also known as the bakers of the famous strawberry cake and award-winning strawberry jam.

The Potts family wants everyone to know that the farm itself is still very much in operation. They state if you follow their Facebook page, where they share most of their Valley Home Farm news, they will be making more announcements in the coming weeks about these businesses, and would be happy if their family could continue to serve you.

The Potts Family may be retiring from berries, but look forward to many new things on the farm.

“To all of you who have spent time with us during the springs and summers of the last two decades, it is with love and gratitude that we say a heartfelt “thank you” for your friendship and loyal support. It has been our pleasure to share in your family’s strawberry season traditions all these many years. “
