Tullahoma City Schools released a statement regarding the novel coronavirus and student health Thursday afternoon. As of right now, TCS plans to operate as regularly scheduled. “This is an emerging , rapidly evolving situation and TCS will provide updated information as it becomes available.

According to the Tullahoma City Schools website, should a student or staff become ill, they will be instructed to stay home and not attend school, day care, or school functions. If a student becomes ill while at school, the school’s officials state that the individual will be isolated, and that school nurses have “specific protocols for handling such cases, and the parent/guardian will be notified to pick up their child. If a serious medical emergency occurs, 911 will be called to support the student or staff.”

The statement also explains that “By the end of spring break, deep-cleaning will have occurred at all TCS facilities.”

For now, officials are encouraging proper handwashing, avoiding touching the face, avoiding others who are sick, and staying home if a student or staff is unwell.

Currently, field trip approval and attendance will be based on the most current and accurate information surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak, and all TCS sporting events will be made based on the guidance of TSSAA.
