Yesterday, Tullahoma Mayor Lane Curlee released a statement in a live press conference pertaining to the need for citizens to stay home during the COVID-19 outbreak. He also announced a curfew for Tullahoma citizens from 9pm-6am.
Today, Mayor Curlee is clarifying his proclamation by issuing an “Advisory to Shelter at Home.” The mayor stated that he was “not authorized to make” decisions such as a “Shelter at Home Order.” Mayor Curlee apologized for the confusion, as many Tullahoma citizens were unsure on the order, due to the amount of “shalls” mentioned in his speech.
- The curfew initially issued for Tullahoma residents is no longer valid, and instead are “respectfully requested to shelter at home.”
- Businesses not performing essential services are “requested” to close their facilities.
- Essential services are requested to continue to adhere to CDC guidelines on social distancing and hand hygiene in the workplace.
- Essential services such as grocery stores and pharmacies are requested to make best effort to set aside hours of operation for the vulnerable population
The new proclamation remains in effect for seven days, pending changes deemed necessary due to the COVID-19 outbreak. You can read the new proclamation in full here.
