Well, it’s official.  The decision has been made to cancel the 4-H summer camping program for the year 2020.  According to State 4-H Director, Dr. Loveday, “This is a difficult decision; but, it is consistent with Dr. Cross’ message during last Friday’s Fireside Chat.”  That message was that all UT Extension public events and educational programs through 7/31/2020 must be conducted using distance technology or rescheduled.

I know many of our 4-H members will be disappointed.  That’s understandable.  We are working to plan alternate activities for youth to engage in.  The good news is that the alternate activities should be free and available to anyone that has internet access.  And for our families that do not have internet access, we will work to develop other activities.  That may be in form of a packet that families can pick up or receive though the mail upon request.

The most important thing we can do is continue to social distance and practice healthy habits such as hand washing.  We all want to stay well so we can resume our regular activities and be able to enjoy them and appreciate them more.
