On Wednesday, 6/10/20, at Lakewood Golf and Country Club, The Tullahoma Downtown Lions Club awarded United Way of Highway 55 $5,000 towards their COVID-19 Response Fund. On 6/4, Ashley Abraham, Director of UWHWY 55, and Board Chair, Hayden Hamilton, presented to The Tullahoma Downtown Lions Club about the efforts and action UWHWY55 has taken since the pandemic.
Ashley states, “I became the Executive Director right when COVID-19 hit, and I was determined to spread awareness for what UWHWY55 does locally and how we can help. United Way has so many amazing resources, like the 2-1-1 Free and Confidential Resource Hotline. I feel like I have just schemed the surface of the impact UWHWY55 could make in our community!” The $5000 will go towards helping individuals that were affected by the pandemic with utility and rental assistance. Ashley states, “We do not know the long-term effect this pandemic has created. But I want United Way of Highway 55 to be a beacon of hope and a helping hand. With this donation from The Tullahoma Lions Club, we can help more in the community that are struggling. We are so grateful.”
