Less than a week since last week’s homicide news, Coffee County is seeing yet another murder case.
Saturday, January 4th, the Manchester police were contacted by Tennova Harton Hospital about a child who had been brought in with severe head trauma. Unfortunately, though the 5 week old was airlifted to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, and did not survive. The child passed around 6 a.m. Sunday morning.
Local resident, and father of the child, Gavin Clark (21) was charged with aggravated child abuse and first degree murder for the death of a child. Manchester detectives say Clark was home watching the child while the mother was at work. When she returned home, she noticed something was wrong with the baby. They then rushed the baby to Tennova Hospital in Tullahoma.
According to the Coffee County Sheriff’s department, he is being held on a $2 million bond.
The Manchester Police Department is working on this case, as the autopsy will be conducted Monday. It is an on-going investigation. More details as the story develops.
