Throughout the month of February, many community business sell $1 paper bears as part of the “Buy a Bear. Show You Care.” campaign. The proceeds from these sales go directly to the Coffee County Children’s Advocacy Center. This campaign supports the center’s work they do for children and families in the community who have experienced abuse, as well as prevention programs that are hosted by the center.
Since the opening of their doors in 2005 almost 4,000 children and their non-offending families have been referred to services at the center. The CCCAC also provides child abuse prevention workshops for children and adults in the community. The CCAC told Coffee County News that nearly 24,000 children in local schools have participated in one of the center’s programs. This “Buy a Bear” campaign helps the center serve more children, as all of their services are free of charge.
The CCCAC started this campaign almost ten years ago. Although the program took a break from the campaign, it has been growing strong for a few years now. This year, both Tullahoma and Manchester businesses are participating in the “Buy a Bear” campaign. If any businesses in Coffee County are interested in participating, you can call the center at 931-723-8888.
