COVID-19 Information and Statistics: A Comprehensive List for Coffee County Residents.

With COVID-19 spreading throughout the country, and even our state, articles concerning the coronavirus are filling the news feeds of millions at a constant. With all of this new daily information, comes many questions, and unfortunately, a great deal of concern or worry. Coffee County News is taking this time to create a comprehensive list of resources regarding COVID-19.
Misinformation such as conspiracy theories and misleading posts is rampant on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and the popular app TikTok. The best way to arm yourself against this is to stay informed from reliable sources of information.

First and foremost,the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is where you will find information regarding the coronavirus such as symptoms, how to protect and prepare yourself, what to do if you think you are sick, latest updates, and an interactive map showing the number of cases in each state. Coronavirus.gov provides an all inclusive look at the situation in the United States where you can find the latest updates, information for small business owners, and follow the U.S. Government COVID-19 response.
The World Health Organization is another reliable source for information. There you will find information regarding the coronavirus on a more global scale. Situation updates, advice for citizens and healthcare workers, and an interactive dashboard/map are all available on the WHO website.
The National Institutes of Health website is a reliable source of information regarding the coronavirus, with informational articles on research, trial vaccines, social distancing, testing and more. The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the nation’s medical research agency.
On a state level, you can find information regarding number of confirmed cases in Tennessee on the Tennessee Department of Health website. The site updates daily at 2pm, but states that “Numbers within tables may not add up to total confirmed number of cases due to reporting delays and/or missing data.” Here you also see the amount of tests that have been administered and how many of those tests were negative. Although the TN health department does not identify individuals, there is an age range table, listing confirmed cases within certain age groups.
“Cases among Tennessee residents are counted by their county of residence. Residents of other states who were tested at Tennessee healthcare facilities are counted as “Residents of Other States/Countries”
A list of assessment sites in TN can be found here. The site states that “locations will be added daily”, but that individuals should contact their usual source of care first.
Corona.help is another helpful and informative website. This site provides an extensive look at the coronavirus, including its history, a timeline of events, the amount infected globally, and even the total amounts of recovered cases. The site is filled with many line and bar graphs for statistics regarding COVID-19.
As of March 22nd, Tennessee government officials have mandated that non-essential businesses use alternative methods in efforts to avoid in-person contact, such as restaurants and bars. Officials state to maintain social distancing, wash your hands for at least 20 seconds,refrain from touching your face, and do not go out of you are feeling sick. If you are experiencing symptoms, the Tennessee Department of health suggests speaking with your doctor to confirm whether or not you need testing. TDOH also suggests calling ahead before being tested, to prepare healthcare workers.
