Gov. Lee Executive Order 30; Restaurants Open, Salons and Entertainment to Remain Closed.
News April 28, 2020 Daniel Prince
Gov. Bill Lee issued Executive Order 30 today, which supersedes and repeals Executive Order Nos. 17, 21, 22, 23, 27, and 29, beginning April 29th. This order does not, however, affect Executive Order 25, regarding dental and medical procedures, which will remain in effect until April 30th, 2020. This order will remain in effect until May 29th, 2020.
Since Lee made the decision not to extend stay-at-home orders past April 30th, this Executive Order pertains to individuals returning to work in industries where they may safely do so by following health guidelines. However, Lee is still urging employers to allow individuals to work remotely if possible.
In the order, citizens are encouraged to continue to stay home and limit contact as much as possible, and social gatherings of more than 10 continue to be prohibited. This includes but is not limited to fairs, festivals, parades, youth and adult sporting events, and overnight summer youth camps. The order does not prohibit weddings or funerals, but encourages “postponement of such events.”
This order does not cover places of worship, for which there will be guidelines for safely operating in-person worship services, but strongly encourages the continuation of virtual worship services.
The entertainment industry is still at a standstill has venues and bars, bowling alleys, arcades, concert and sporting event venues, theaters, auditoriums, performing arts centers, racetracks, indoor children’s play areas, adult entertainment venues, amusement parks, senior centers, and skating rinks must remain closed.
Close-contact services such as salons, barbershops, spas, tattoo shops, ad others will also be required to remain closed, “for now,” as stated in Executive Order 30.
Individuals are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings to limit the spread of COVID-19. Employees with COVID-19 or COVID-19 symptoms must not report to work, and employers must not allow or require such individuals to report to work.
Restaurants will be allowed to operate at half capacity, given the establishment follows the ERG guidelines, but curbside services and takeout alcohol sales for restaurants will continue to encourage individuals to stay home.
