Ingredients

  • Fresh Cranberries (1 to 2 cups)
  • 2-3 Bay Leaves
  • 1 Apple
  • 1 Navel Orange
  • 1 Lemon
  • 2 Springs of Fresh Rosemary
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon Powder -or- 3 Sticks of Cinnamon
Fresh Cranberries and Bay Leaves

The first step is as simple as gathering your ingredients all in once place. You will need a large cooking pot, anything four quarts or larger will work.

Fresh Rosemary

After gathering your ingredients, set aside the cranberries, rosemary, and bay leaves. Cut the apple, orange, and lemon into slices. No need to be perfect with the slices, the idea is just to open up that fruit!

Once you are done slicing, place all ingredients into a large cooking pot. For safety reasons, its suggest you do this on a back burner. Place your ingredients into the pot, along with 8 to 10 cups of water, stir the ingredients to incorporate the powdered cinnamon, turn the burner on medium-high, and let the potpourri come to a simmer for about 30 to 40 minutes. After it has simmered for about an hour (you’ll already be smelling it by now!) you may turn the burner on low. You can let this simmer on low for the remainder of your gathering, but be sure to remember its there! If safety is a concern, this can also be done in a slow cooker, cooked on high for an hour, then turned to the low setting for the rest of the day.

This holiday concoction is sure to put you in the spirit, and impress your party guests. It is a fresh, cozy and warm way to welcome friends and family into your home. Happy Holidays!
