Nissan of Smyrna and Decherd announced that in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the overwhelming need for personal protective equipment, that they will be producing face shields to donate to local healthcare facilities.

The automotive production plant will be using 3D printing methods to produce over 3,000 headbands and face shields that they state will be ready by April 3, 2020. Nissan also stated that moving forward, they will be able to produce at least 1,000 face shields per week.

Nissan is one of the many production companies who has stopped typical production to produce equipment for the needs of healthcare workers.

Nissan states in a social media post, “Thank you to our team members who are working on this effort! We have enhanced safety and sanitizing measures in place to ensure they are protected as well.”
