Vice Mayor Marilyn Howard was recently appointed city mayor after the tragic loss of Mayor Lonnie Norman, leaving a vacancy in the Office of Alderman.

“The Charter of the City of Manchester provides that a vacancy in
the Office of Alderman shall be filled until the next regular election by a majority vote of all the remaining members of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.”

“To be eligible for and to hold the office of Alderman, a person must be a registered voter of the City; be a citizen of the State of Tennessee and a
resident of the City of Manchester for one (1) year next preceding the day of the election and be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
