Coffee County Central High School Student of the week: Melanie McKelvey.

This week’s Coffee County Central High Student of the Week is senior Melanie McKelvey.  Melanie is from the Hillsboro Community and is the daughter of Larry and Susan McKelvey.  Melanie was nominated by her Journalism teacher Ms. Katie Duke who said,  “Melanie is always kind and compassionate, has a positive attitude even in trying circumstances, and expects the very best from herself.  Melanie is just awesome, period!”  Melanie writes for the school newspaper and is heavily involved in the school theater program.  Melanie is currently getting ready for her role as “Nana” in the upcoming production of Peter Pan, and she also worked in the production of The Great Gatsby in the Fall.  Melanie also is involved with 4-H specializing in Consumer Education area.  Through the 4-H program, she recently went to Denver, Colorado, and competed in a national Quiz Bowl.  In her spare time, Melanie enjoys reading and writing.  Melanie stated that her favorite thing about CCCHS is her friends.  After graduation, Melanie plans on attending the University of Tennessee and majoring in English/Communications.
