Coffee County Inmate Dies: TBI to Determine Cause of Death

According to a press release from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department: “On September 26, 2020 at approximately 6:30 pm, Coffee County Jail Staff was made aware of an inmate in medical destress. The inmate, a 27-year-old white male, was found to be unresponsive and CPR was performed by correctional and medical staff on hand.
The inmate was transported to Unity Medical Center were further medical treatment was provided. The inmate was pronounced dead and the family notified. The District Attorney was notified, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will be investigating to determine the cause of death”
No further details are available at this time as to the man’s identity or cause of death.
