Morris Wayne Crowder, of Shelbyville, passed this life on Wednesday, October 14th, 2020 at his home at the age of 73. Wayne was born in Picayune, Mississippi to the late Morris and Hazel Nix Crowder. He started his career while in college working as an accounting clerk during his summer’s months. After graduating, he worked as an accountant, Manager of Accounting, and then Director of Financial Management and Administrative Services. During his career he worked at Stennis Space Center and Johnson Space Center for different Government service contractors. Wayne loved to spend his free time salt water fishing, especially in the spring and fall. What he loved best was the serenity of the early mornings on the Gulf watching the sun come up over the horizon. He viewed farming and land the same way. It was relaxing, even though it took a good amount of work to maintain plowed fire lines, keep underbrush cleared, remove diseased trees, and have the wood logged. When Wayne wasn’t faming the land, he loved working in his vegetable garden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Marcus Wayne Crowder. Wayne is survived by his wife, Vyrene Crowder; one grandson, Michael Barthel Ku’umaka Crowder (Brandi) of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; and two sisters, Carolyn Sims (Mike) of Richton, Mississippi, and Barbara Wheat of Purvis, Mississippi. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 19th, 2020 at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Picayune, Mississippi from 10:00-11:00am with the funeral service to immediately follow at 11:00am with Rev. Daniel Hunter officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Picayune, Mississippi.
