Tullahoma City Schools is hiring for the position of Special Education Coordinator. You can apply at http://bit.ly/SpecialEducationCoordinator online. Applications for the position will be accepted Monday, August 17, 2020 12:00 AM  -Monday, August 31, 2020 11:59 PM.

Duties of a Special Education Coordinator include:

  1. Regularly disseminate to teachers and staff all updates for special education and 504 policies, procedures, compliance, and pedagogy under the supervision of the Director of Special Education. 
  2. Provide on-site/virtual, specific coaching to teachers and staff in an organized and professional manner.
  3. Collaborate with TCS Technology Department to manage and maintain district records for AIMSweb/Progress Monitoring. 
  4. Provide on-site/virtual, specific, and regular training/updates for progress monitoring. 
  5. Regularly advertise ChildFind to the community and collaborate with assessment specialists to continue positive relationships with community-based childcare centers.
  6. Collaborate with school psychologist and other assessment specialists to professionally respond to all ChildFind and Tennessee Early Intervention System (TEIS) referrals in a timely manner, maintain detailed records of referrals, and ensure follow-up on referrals until they are closed. 
  7. Complete developmental screenings at a convenient location for each child (e.g. daycare setting) or at the Community School Services Building.
  8. Maintain accurate and current student records.
  9. Collaborate with district and school level staff to connect families and staff with appropriate district personnel. 
  10. Daily supervise 619 preschool program to ensure that Tennessee State Child Care Rules are followed. 
  11. Serve as Local Education Agency Representative for all 619 pre-k referral and/or IEP/Remote Instruction Support Plan meetings. 
  12. Collaborate with the Special Education Compliance Coordinator to register all 619 students in a timely manner, consulting with appropriate attendance personnel. 
  13. Collaborate with Special Education Compliance Coordinator to recruit Educational Surrogates and continuously update the list of surrogates and students in need of surrogates. 
  14. Collaborate with the Special Education Compliance Coordinator to strengthen 504 policies and procedures. 
  15. Provide annual and as needed on-site/virtual Educational Surrogate training to interested, qualified community members. 
  16. Assist with the annual Tennessee Department of Special Education Compliance Monitoring to ensure electronic and hard copies of records are adequately maintained while positively coaching teachers throughout this process. 
  17. Filter and prioritize special education and 504 questions/concerns from parents and staff to collaborate with the Director of Special Education. Consult with TDOE when needed. 
  18. Collaborate with special education fiscal personnel to develop and maintain district-wide inventory of available tangible instructional materials and maintain a database of effective, research-based pedagogical strategies. 
  19. Coordinate and supervise all Extended School Year Services and provide services as needed according to the licensed specialty area. 
  20. Collaborate with related service providers as needed.
  21. Explore district and community resources for possible new partnerships. 
  22. Collaborate with the Director of Special Education in grant writing and in sustaining numerous previously awarded funds. 
  23. Communicate and collaborate with contracted partners as needed under the supervision of the Director of Special Education. 
  24. Develop and coordinate Assistive Technology team and coordinate referrals for assistive technology.
  25. Periodically participate in Special Transportation to ensure that Special Transportation is necessary for students and to build departmental visibility and rapport. 
  26. Collaborate with Autism/Behavior Consultant monthly and as needed.
  27. Collaborate with special education social worker monthly and as needed. 
  28. Collaborate with Special Education Compliance Coordinator to update and disseminate special education parent surveys each year. 
  29. Complete reports in a timely manner as assigned by the Director of Special Education. 
  30. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
