The Coffee County Sheriff’s department responded to what was supposed to be a welfare check at the request of family members of victim Johnny Tesar on December 30th. When deputies arrived on the scene in Lakewood Park, Johnny Tesar (68) was discovered deceased in a camper. The name was released December 31st after the family had been notified.
According to the Coffee County Sheriff’s department and Sgt Laura Nettles, Sasha Payton and Tyler Carter are being held in relation to what Chief Watkins stated is “obviously a homicide.” Carter and Payton were detained the following day.
The investigation is still ongoing, and the department “hopes for closure soon.”
