The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has issued a warning about a scam when purchasing fishing and hunting licenses. The TWRA has detected a fraudulent website. The website is said to appear when you Google “Tennessee fishing license” and appears as an advertisement.

The site requests that you enter your personal information including your name, birth date, driver’s license number, phone number, your residential address, and even your social security number. The website takes this information, but does not request payment for the fishing/hunting license.

It appears that the website has been created outside of the United States, and TWRA is currently working to shut the site down. TWRA urges anyone who may have entered their personal information to this site to put a hold on their credit, or contact their banks, and continue to monitor your personal accounts.

The TWRA states that “the only legitimate place to purchase a hunting or fishing license online in the State of Tennessee is at https://gooutdoorstennessee.com/.”
